Dental Occlusion Diagnosis
At Bludental centers, it is possible to perform a comprehensive occlusal balance analysis using a specialized medical device.
What does it involve?
This is a wireless device designed to detect dental occlusion parameters in a simple, fast, and non-invasive manner. Utilizing 4 probes applied with adhesive electrodes near the patient’s anterior temporal and masseter muscles, it analyzes the electrical impulses generated by the activity of these muscles.
The examination is performed using two tests to measure muscle activity. The first one, a calibration test, involves placing two cotton rolls between the dental arches in maximum intercuspation—that is, clenching the bite as tightly as possible.
The second test is performed utilizing the natural intercuspation of the arches, allowing for the detection of the parameters across the entire occlusal surface.
Each test lasts 5 seconds. Upon completion, the device processes the recorded muscle activity values and provides the dentist with accurate, objective parameters of the patient’s dental occlusion. This is presented through a clear graphical representation, enabling the clinician to show the patient their specific occlusal condition and the necessary interventions to improve it.
